TASTER SESSION
Cost: £15 per person
If you are unsure if Makaton training is for you, or you are not yet ready for a full training session, try a short 1.5hr-2hr Makaton Taster Session.
This session is designed to give you an understanding of the Makaton vocabulary, what it is and how to use it. You will learn around 30 useful signs and symbols and get lots of tips on how to introduce them at home or at work. This is completed online via Zoom.
After the training you will receive course information, copies of all the signs and symbols used, and a certificate of attendance. This is an informal, fun session, with lots of tips and ideas to take away.
For group bookings, signs will be selected to best suit your needs.
LEVEL 1
Cost: £77.00 per person
Level 1 training is the starting point for learning Makaton and is suitable for all parents, carers, family members and professionals. It provides a practical introduction to the Makaton language programme.
Level 1 training includes:
Signs and symbols from Stages 1 and 2;
Additional vocabulary;
Tips for effective signing technique;
How to use Makaton at home and at work and;
Frequently asked questions.
Level 1 is made up of 2 modules and takes a minimum of 7 hours to complete.
You will receive an official Makaton participants' manual, which includes Makaton symbols and signs to consolidate your learning in the training.
You will receive a certificate on completion that is required for further progress in your Makaton training.
LEVEL 2
Cost: £77.00 per person
Level 2 training builds on the knowledge from Level 1. Completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite for Level 2.
Level 2 training includes:
The use of concept signs, symbols and speech from Stages 3 and 4;
Additional vocabulary;
Makaton techniques for directionality, placement and movement;
Pragmatic and practical uses of Makaton.
You will consolidate on prior learning symbols and how to personalise the vocabulary to meet the needs of the individuals in your family or workplace.
You will receive an official Makaton participants' manual, which includes Makaton symbols and signs to consolidate your learning in the training.
You will receive a certificate on completion that is required for further progress in your Makaton training.
LEVEL 3
Cost: £77.00per person
Level 3 Makaton training builds on the knowledge from Levels 1 and 2. You must have completed these levels to move forward with Level 3.
Level 3 training includes:
Signs and symbols for Stages 5 and 6 of the core vocabulary;
Additional IT vocabulary;
Practical implementation of signs and symbols.
You will develop translation skills using signs and symbols, demonstrating your knowledge of adapting communication to suit the user.
You will receive an official Makaton participants' manual, which includes Makaton symbols and signs to consolidate your learning in the training.
You will receive a certificate on completion that is required for further progress in your Makaton training.
LEVEL 4
Cost: £77.00 per person
Level 4 Makaton training builds on the knowledge from levels 1, 2 and 3. You must have all levels completed before you can access Level 4.
Level 4 includes:
Signs and symbols for Stages 7 and 8 of the Core Vocabulary;
Consolidation of the signs and symbols learned in Level 1, 2 and 3 training;
Completion of the Core Vocabulary.
You will receive an official Makaton participants' manual, which includes Makaton symbols and signs to consolidate your learning in the training.
You will receive a certificate as evidence of completion of Level 4.
